is affiliated with the following research schools: The MARC is the research center of the department of Accounting and Information Management. Since its inception in 1992, MARC has gone through a number of changes in its organizational structure and its strategic mission. Founded as an Audit research institute, it broadened its perspective to Accounting and Audit research and education. With the establishment in 2002 of the Graduate School of International Management (GSIM) within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the education activities that used to take place within MARC have now moved to GSIM (www.gsim.nl), permitting MARC to focus on research. Another substantial change is the further broadening of the research areas covered by MARC. Accounting and Audit research is now complemented by the contemporary research area of Information Management. It was established in 1994, and accredited by the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen, KNAW) in 1997. The (mandatory) follow-up accreditation was received in 2002. Research within FE&BA is mostly conducted within the framework of METEOR, and so is the educational Program for PhD students. The aim of the research school is to acquire a better understanding of the functioning of business firms in a complex and changing environment by promoting and carrying out first-rate research, and offering graduate education. |
