The Universiteit van Amsterdam Business School (ABS) provides high-level business education with a strong academic basis for the national and international undergraduate and postgraduate market. The ABS educational philosophy is characterized by small-scale interactive seminars and workshops and case-based programs designed to stimulate active participation by students. Research concentrates on four main areas, Corporate Finance and Financial Systems, Information Management (Primavera), Management and Accounting. Research is fully integrated into the educational programs.
The Tinbergen Institute is founded in 1987 and named after Professor Jan Tinbergen, Dutch Nobel Prize laureate in economics in 1969.
The Tinbergen Institute is the graduate school and research institute in economics of Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, Universiteit van Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. More than 100 research fellows and approximately 120 M.Phil. and Ph.D. students participate in the institute's research programme and educational programme. The Tinbergen Institute offers a two year M.Phil. programme in economics that is part of a five-year Ph.D. track. International researchers visit the Tinbergen Institute to give seminars and workshops, or to meet the research fellows of the institute.
