The jury was impressed with the way Onno combined theory and practice. His dissertation is written about a challenging subject, the advantages of non-transparancy for companies in a time that transparency a high priority has (see the code Tabaksbladt). The dissertation is theoretically interesting, but in the excellent research the practice shows the advantages of price non-transparancy for companies that offer internet vacations. As stated by one of the jury members, Prof.dr. S.W.F. Omta, “I advise can advise everyone to read this dissertation”. The jury handed the prize out at the NOBEM Methodology day in Amersfoort on January 31, 2006.

The first prize winning thesis is: "Flexible but committed" of Nicole Torka of the University of Twente. This thesis impressed the jury, because of its daring hypotheses, and the fine intertwinement of a qualitative and a quantitative approach to the research problem. The second awarded thesis is: "One for All, All for the Customer" of Ad de Jong of the University of Maastricht. The jury was especially impressed by the very rigid methodological approach, and the high response rate, which is often difficult to achieve.
