SOM Doctoral Seminar on Advanced Model Building in Marketing

This course is aimed at Ph.D. students who are interested in learning more about recent developments and important issues in advanced model building in marketing. The course is targeted at Research Master students and Ph.D students in marketing and business in Groningen and other Dutch Universities. Teachers of this course are:

Peter Leeflang, Frank M. Bass professor of Marketing, University of Groningen

·

Koen Pauwels, Associate Professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Ozyegin University (Istanbul) and honorary Professor Marketing Dynamics at the University of Groningen

·

Thomas Otter, Professor of Marketing at the Goethe University Frankfurt.

·

Wander Jager, Associate Professor of Marketing, University of Groningen.

·

Jaap Wieringa, Associate Professor of Marketing, University of Groningen.

All participating Ph.D. students will be awarded with a seminar certificate in case they successfully complete the whole seminar. Successful participation requires that you:

attend all classes (see below),

·

prepare the readings for each class,

·

actively participate in the sessions, and

·

complete homework assignments / give in-class presentations.

It is required to be well prepared for the three modules (February 8-10, 2010; April 5-7, 2010; May 10-13, 2010). Participants should have a solid background in statistics and mathematics (i.e., linear algebra). A prerequisite is also to have adequate knowledge about model building in marketing. It is required that all participants are familiar with the following chapters of Leeflang et al.’s book: Chapters 1-9, chapter 15, chapter 16.1-16.6, chapter 17.3 and chapter 18.1-18.5 and selected articles.
